    MUN is a conference that puts students into scenarios that represent the organisations directly or indirectly linked to the United Nations and allows them a platform to discuss and have a greater understanding of some of the issues that affect the world in a political, social and economic sense.

  • 2. What are the benefits of participating in AUDMUN?

    Participating in AUDMUN enhances your communication skills in multiple ways. It also keeps you aware of what is happening around the world each and every day, and makes you a more educated person. Being a delegate in AUDMUN gives you a chance to improve your public speaking skills as well as your self confidence.

  • 3. What committees are there and what exactly are they?

  • 5. How should I prepare for the MUN conference?

    Preparing for MUN requires delegates to rewatch their respective committees and take an initiative in absorbing and using this knowledge throughout the course of the three day conference sessions. Delegates must prepare position papers based on the country they have been assigned and must be aware of all that their specific nation has to say on the topics discussed in committee. Delegates must brush up on the rules and procedures of not just the wider MUN but their committee In question

  • 6. Will there be an orientation or workshop before the conference?

    Yes, there will be an orientation before the conference. The date of which will be disclosed later.

  • 7. Is there a dress code at the conference?

    Yes, there is a dress code for the AUDMUN conference. Delegates must be wearing formal attire. Additionally, males and females may opt to the local dress (kandora, or abaya).

  • 8. What are position papers & background guides?

    The position paper is a paper that a delegate must write prior to the conference. In this paper the delegate should include his or her stance on the topics of his or her committee and a brief general overview on the topics. The position paper should most likely include statistics, causes, reasons, supporting details, factual details, quotes (etc…). Background guides are guides written by the chairs of each committee in order to facilitate the process of research for the delegates. The background guides include more specific details on each topic and a brief explanation that will allow the delegates to further understand the topics.

  • 9. What are the terms and processes I need to know as a delegate ?

    The terms and processes you need to know are under “conference details > rules of procedure”.

  • 10. Who are chairs and what is their role?

    A chair is the person responsible for moderating the committee session. You can find the names and information of your chairs under “conference details > committees > about the chairs”.

  • 11. What makes a good position paper?

    A good position paper is one that clearly states the country’s position or stance, includes facts and statistics, causes and reasons, quotes, and is written in the correct form, using clear english, and is clear from plagiarism.

  • 12. How well will MUN help me in communication skills?

    MUN is a great chance to enhance your communication skills. When a delegate engages in a debate with other delegates, he or she starts to learn to better express their points of view. Delegates may also be required to work along with other delegates which builds a sense of teamwork, and they gradually develop better communication skills.

  • 13. What types of committees are at an MUN conference?

    There are two types of committees, high school committees & university committees. You can find all the information about the committees under “conference details > committees”.

  • 14. What is social night?

    Social night is an event held by the executive board members. During this event, dinner is served, activities are held, and music is definitely played. The social night is the best chance for you to have a break from the stress and tension of the conference!

  • 15. Are laptops allowed in committee sessions?

    Yes, laptops are allowed during committee sessions.

  • 16. Can the faculty advisors walk in at all times or is there a specific time?

    Faculty advisors are allowed to walk at all times as long as they do not create any kind of disturbance or distraction for the delegates.

  • 17. Are faculty advisors allowed to take photos during the sessions?

    Faculty advisors can take photos during committee sessions as long as they do not create any kind of disturbance or distraction for the delegates.
